Historical maps are essential to the interpretation and understanding of the landscape. They record features now lost; ancient routes, field boundaries and demolished buildings.

Maps

We are fortunate that the Plan and Survey Book of Heawood Demesne 1789, was found in Chetham's Library, Manchester, and even more fortunate that the Library has given us permission to reproduce it on our website. It is earliest map we have of Blackden.

We also have copies of later maps in our archive. These are available as a reference collection.
